Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the government and citizens to concentrate efforts on attracting foreign investments in artificial intelligence and quantum computing technology, steering Malaysia away from divisive political disputes that impede progress.
Speaking at a PH Grand Rally titled "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, Anwar highlighted the importance of these emerging technologies for securing the nation's competitive edge and ensuring prosperity for future generations. He noted that recent visits to Japan have explored opportunities in quantum computing, complementing ongoing initiatives to establish AI and data centres within the country.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Malaysia cannot afford to waste energy on endless bickering over religious and ethnic issues when critical development challenges demand attention. He questioned how the nation could advance when political discourse remained mired in divisive rhetoric rather than focusing on tangible solutions that benefit all citizens.
Anwar called for unified action across all communities, stating that Malaysians of all backgrounds must collaborate to elevate the nation's standing globally. He pointed out that Malaysia's reputation has attracted international investors seeking opportunities, reducing the need for aggressive promotion campaigns.
As both PKR President and PH Chairman, Anwar also warned political leaders and parties against exploiting communal sentiments and hatred for electoral gain. Instead, he urged them to channel their energies toward understanding and addressing citizens' genuine concerns, thereby strengthening public trust in political institutions and governance.
