Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has called on MADANI Communities across the country to shoulder the responsibility of communicating accurate and verified information about government policies and achievements to the general public. Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fahmi stressed that this task should not rest solely with government agencies such as the Information Department (JAPEN) and the Community Communications Department (J-KOM).

Fahmi highlighted several key accomplishments worthy of wider public attention. He pointed to food security efforts, including maintaining adequate rice stocks during major holidays through programmes by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Additionally, the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), operated under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, has successfully made subsidised cooking oil readily available to consumers after earlier shortages.

"These are among the achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that must be communicated to the people by MADANI Communities," he said. During the event, Fahmi handed out appointment letters to newly appointed Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term.

To support community leaders in their role, the Communications Ministry will conduct regular briefing sessions on pressing matters and government initiatives requiring public communication. The ministry will also task JAPEN with monitoring MADANI Communities' performance to maintain their effectiveness in grassroots information dissemination.

Fahmi warned that underperforming groups would face consequences. "We will ask JAPEN to act swiftly if any MADANI Community is found to be inactive. If that happens, we will make the necessary changes, including replacing those who are not performing," he stated.
