Foreign divorce has no legal standing in Philippines, says Justice official
Filipino citizens who obtain divorces abroad remain legally married under Philippine law and cannot escape spousal and parental obligations, the Department of Justice has clarified. The Philippines recognises only annulment and legal separation.
