Ho Chi Minh City police have dismantled a sophisticated transnational drug trafficking network involving the creation and distribution of e-cigarettes laced with an anaesthetic drug, resulting in the arrest of 65 people across multiple operations. Among those detained are four Malaysian nationals and Singaporeans, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Drug Crime Investigation Division, revealing the regional dimensions of the illicit scheme that targeted consumers across Vietnam and beyond.
The investigation centred on two primary suspects identified as the alleged architects of the operation: Malaysian national Hoo Jia How, aged 30, and Singaporean Melvin Tan Junjie, also 30. These two men allegedly orchestrated the procurement, production and distribution networks that supplied drug-laced e-cigarettes to an extensive customer base.
